White Wines
Robert Young has been growing Sauvignon Blanc since the early 90s but selling the fruit exclusively to other local wineries. To round out our Sonoma white wine line up, the winery decided to make its first official Sauvignon Blanc with the 2017 vintage, coinciding with the winery’s new label. The wine is sourced from our estate, Clone 1 SB block with average vine age of 20+ years. We farm this block using low-yield, sustainable methods and hand-pick 100% of the fruit during harvest. The stylistic approach to the varietal is to allow the fruit to be the primary flavor component in the wine and therefore put the wine in 100% neutral barrels (5-6-year-old barrels) so there is little to no oak influence. The resulting style of the wine is fresh, with loads of stone fruit, melon and grapefruit flavors with nice minerality in the background, yet rich in texture.
